Purple Winding Shrub

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 185 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has numerous stocky, slanted stems covered in rough, brown-green speckled bark, and the wood inside is pine-coloured.

The branches are very long and slender with dozens of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of giant, perforated, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either cream or grey, with purple streaks, resistant and smooth.

It produces lots of giant, beige flowers with long, tapering petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like petrol. In early autumn it forms tinyblack, tough-shelled seeds.
