This green moss is commonly found blanketing large areas On rotten logs, and In rainforests.
It is enormous, growing up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is extremely frail.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release millions of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
