Red Thornsucculent

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This short leaf succulent grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is red, and is covered in large amounts of rigid black spines. The wavy-edged, thick leaves are hazel on the sides and cream at the center. Small bunches of them grow from the base like rose petals. The leaves are frail, and take little effort to detach.

It is very slow growing, taking 47 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with cream petals and a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 12 petals in raised layers. It has an intensely strong scent that smells like fruity.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the amber flesh is rough, and the bronze sap is thin.

It can survive a very long time without water.
