Copperbell Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 61 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, wavy trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very hard wood is mahogany-coloured.
The branches are very short and thick and are covered with very large amounts of crispy, small, very thin leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are either copper, or azure with hazel patches.
In early spring, it produces thousands of giant, vibrant orange blossoms with pleated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like freshly baked bread.
In late summer it forms small, brown, winged seeds that float and land far away.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
