Clinging Amberfruit

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 68 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, curved trunk covered in knobbly, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The tangled mess of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of large, wispy leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid amber or sky blue, with indigo zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces several giant, green blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like a man.

In early autumn it produces , spherical fruit. The sticky indigo skin is tough and inedible, and the soft green flesh is sweet and bitter and very juicy. The silver seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
