Vinefruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 45 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, crooked trunk covered in fine, silky, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, needle-like leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are florescent orange and beige.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, dull red blossoms with oval-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like wet dog.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, spherical fruit. The hairy cream skin is thick and savoury, and the slightly crunchy green flesh is sweet and dry. The crimson seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
