Twistberry
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, twisting trunk covered in thick, rough, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white.
The tangled mess of branches are very short and thin and are covered with small amounts of giant, spear shaped leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are generally silver.
In early spring, it produces a handful of giant, turquoise blossoms with wide petals. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like fermented fruit.
In early winter it produces small, broad, flat fruit. The smooth lilac skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft green flesh is sweet and juicy. The caramel seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
