Pinebloom

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 26 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has numerous branched, straight stems covered in delicate, smooth, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, thin, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are violet and caramel, resistant and covered in fine hairs.

In mid-spring it produces several small, blue blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like warm milk.

In early autumn oval fruits ripen. The hairy aquamarine skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft violet flesh is salty and powdery. The light grey seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.
