Violetberry

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in thin, cracked, black bark, and inside, the flexible wood is black with white speckles.

The abundance of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, thin leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are generally blue.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, copper blossoms with spiral shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like pineapple.

In late autumn it produces small, stiff, pointed fruit. The soft violet skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy purple flesh is bitter and sour and very juicy. The dark green seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
