Violet Oasis

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its dark brown and slate stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 8 and are very thin and straight, and split into several branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the huge, lime green leaves are light lime green on the underside and are slender, pointed with smooth edges. 18 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Dozens of medium-sized flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with petals that are violet at the sides and cyan at the center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 20 petals. They are sturdy.

It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like sugar, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
