Red-Violet Flower

This small flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its brown stem is wispy, and the giant, yellow leaves are long, narrow with serrated edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

5 to 10 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide, with alternating petals of intense red and violet, with a brown central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 curved petals. They detach easily.

It has a soft scent that smells like fruity, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by the wind and is ignored by most insect species.
