This pink-red moss is commonly found blanketing giant areas In rainforests, and In bogs.
It is small, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is very frail; it takes a lot of damage when trodden on.
When mature, emerald cylindrical capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release dozens of spores.

All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
