Indigo Tree

This modest-sized tree grows up to 32 meters (105.0 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 527 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, slanted trunk covered in very thick, rough, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is black.

The sparse amount of branches are very short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of smooth, tiny, circular leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are generally indigo.

In late summer it forms tiny, bronze berries.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
