Crimson Spinesucculent

This short leaf succulent grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The stiff, pointed stem is gray-green, and is covered in sharp spines. The tattered-edged, pleated leaves are crimson on the sides and muted orange at the center. Handfuls of them grow from the base like blades of grass. The leaves are resistant, and easily come away when pulled.

It is very fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are generally aquamarine; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing once every 9 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 20 curved petals. It has a weak scent that smells like coffee.

The leaf succulent's skin is very thick, the brilliant red flesh is rubbery, and the black sap is thin.
