Blood Red Succulent

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. The very thin stem is brown, and is dotted with small blood red spines.

It is fast growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with solid purple petals decorated with caramel lines and a brown central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 13 curved petals. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like damp.

The cactus's skin is delicate, the cream flesh is rough, and the olive sap is thin.
