Copperwood

This giant tree grows up to 92 meters (301.9 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 169 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a very thick, curved trunk covered in cracked, light brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is copper-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of covered in fine hairs, tiny, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are gray-green with slate tips.

In early spring, it produces clusters of medium-sized, cream blossoms with long, narrow petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like marzipan.

In late summer it forms large, brown, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
