Bronzefern

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 63 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in thin, silky, black bark, and inside, the soft wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with small amounts of rough, huge, thin leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in bronze and hazel varieties.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, black, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
