Caramel Trumpetvine

This small flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its sky blue or pink stems grow in bunches of 8 and are thin with a curved tip, and the miniature, copper and caramel leaves are heart-shaped with jagged edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

A single large flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with petals that are bronze on the edges and olive at the center. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of several tightly layered, narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like new books, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.
