Pineapple Sage

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 160 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several slender, straight stems covered in hard, wrinkled, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are short stubs with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of miniature, spear shaped, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are either grey, or faded yellow with peach zig-zags, flimsy and smooth.

It produces lots of small, green flowers with slender, pointed petals. They are hardy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like pineapple. In late spring it forms smallbeige, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
