Emerald

This average-sized tree grows up to 19 meters (62.3 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a stocky, curved trunk covered in paper-thin, ridged, brown-green bark, and inside, the dense wood is pale brown.

The large clumps of branches trail down to the ground, with dozens of twigs covered with handfuls of large, emerald needles. The needles themselves are delicate.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, florescent yellow seed pods.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
