Azurevine

This small tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 167 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, angular trunk covered in fine, ridged, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is light brown.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of clammy, small, wispy leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are gray with washed-out red tips.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of giant, azure blossoms with 8 circular shaped petals. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like rotten egg.

In late summer it forms tiny, lime, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
