Crimson Sphagnum

This red moss is commonly found growing in tiny clumps In marshes, In rainy mountain ranges, and In heathlands.
It is big, growing up to 7 inches (18 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is extremely light.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release dozens of spores.
