Magenta Spike

This small cactus grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The finger-like stem is gray-green, and is covered in sharp spines.

It is quick growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with solid magenta petals decorated with yellow dots and a olive central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 10 years. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like cigarette smoke.

The cactus's skin is nearly impenetrable, the pink flesh is rough, and the orange sap is thin and can kill if consumed.
