Indigo

This big caudiciform grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The pleated stem is yellow-green, and is covered in thick sheets of fine, beige, hair-like spines. The twisting, dark brown trunk can grow to as much as 9 feet (2.7 meters) in diameter at the top. Its pink-red branches trail down towards the ground and start growing a quarter of the way up the stem.

The small amounts of smooth-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are indigo on the edges and azure at the center. They are resistant, and take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 23 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are generally olive; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 54 raised, narrow petals. It has a strong scent that smells like pepper.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the cream flesh is leathery, and the orange sap is thin.
