Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This small cactus grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The narrow stem is green and slate, and is covered in handfuls of rigid lilac spines. The wedge-shaped body is orange, and is covered in dozens of flexible beige spines.
It is slow growing, taking 10 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with grey petals and a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with 23 raised narrow petals. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like coconut.
The cactus's skin is thick, the black flesh is soft, and the blood red sap is thin.
