Bloodvine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 29 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many sturdy, straight stems covered in thick, silky, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy that and are covered with small bunches of small, needle-like, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid blood red or light brown, with lime zig-zags, hardy and smooth.

In early summer it produces large amounts of tiny, olive flowers with spear shaped petals. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like onion.

It comes in 3 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
