Yellowwood

This modest-sized tree grows up to 51 meters (167.3 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 70 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, dark gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is yellow-brown.

The branches are short stubs, covered with copious amounts of miniature, orange-yellow and moss green needles. The needles themselves are delicate.

In late summer it produces giant, lime, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
