Copperberry

This large fruit tree grows up to 23 feet (7.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, curved trunk covered in thick, knobbly, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black.

The abundance of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid lilac with crimson edges.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, deep green blossoms with broad, flat petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like sugar.

In late autumn it produces tiny, circular fruit. The smooth peach skin is tough and inedible, and the slightly crunchy sky blue flesh is spicy and very dry. The orange seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
