Heartleaf Greedflower

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. Its red stem is very thick, and the huge, red leaves are stiff, pointed with smooth edges. 9 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

A single giant flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with petals that are generally grey; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of 9 widely spaced, narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like honeysuckle, and it has excessive amounts of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind and is ignored by most insect species.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
It is suitable for making paper
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
