Golden

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 33 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, twisting trunk covered in thick, wrinkled, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is black.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of small, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either lime, or red with deep yellow zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, gold blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They fall easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like warm cookies.

In mid-summer it produces small, long, narrow fruit. The fuzzy turquoise skin is stretchy and inedible, and the soft red flesh is sour and very juicy. The black seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
