Indigo Berry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, curved trunk covered in thin, ridged, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is gray.

The small handful of branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of small, long, tapering leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid dark brown with grey edges.

In early spring, it produces a handful of giant, indigo blossoms with 8 crescent-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like garlic.

In late autumn it produces , needle-like fruit. The fuzzy crimson skin is thin and sweet, and the slightly crunchy aquamarine flesh is salty and juicy. The drab orange seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
