Violet Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a flexible, curved trunk covered in smooth, brown-green bark, and inside, the very hard wood is mahogany-coloured.
The excessive amount of branches are very short and thick and are covered with copious amounts of large, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in cyan and turquoise varieties.
In early spring, it produces large amounts of giant, pastel purple blossoms with circular petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like cherry.
In early summer it produces tiny, asymmetrical fruit. The rough violet skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft pastel purple flesh is overwhelmingly salty and very juicy. The grey seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
It blooms only at night.
