Copper Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 30 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, curved trunk covered in thin, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is gray.

The tangled mess of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of giant, wide leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in beige and blue varieties.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of tiny, aquamarine blossoms with circular petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like rotting meat.

In early winter it produces very large, oblong fruit. The smooth lime skin is tough and bitter and savoury, and the soft azure flesh is extremely bitter and sticky. The light brown seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
