Magenta

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This large flower grows up to 5.8 feet (1.8 meters) tall. Its brown and light brown stem is wispy and straight with a curved tip, and the giant, gray-green leaves are very thin with serrated edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Lots of small flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 20 cm (7.9 inches) wide, with solid magenta petals and a sky blue central disk. The flower head is shaped like a heart with 23 raised, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has an intense scent that smells like new carpet, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.

It is suitable for making paper
