Turquoise Daisy

Flower type: Perennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This big flower grows up to 4.0 feet (1.2 meters) tall. Its olive or cyan stem is wispy and straight, and the miniature, gray-green leaves are brown on the underside and are long, tapering with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Several giant flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 12 cm (4.7 inches) wide, with alternating petals of aquamarine and turquoise, with a violet central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 petals. They are very delicate.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like old books, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to butterflies.
