Cyan Fruit Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 21 feet (6.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 30 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, crooked trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very dense wood is light brown.

The abundance of branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with small bunches of huge, stiff, pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid cyan with violet patches.

In early spring, it produces dozens of small, blood red blossoms with V-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like onion.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, fan-like fruit. The clammy turquoise skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is spicy, and the crunchy faded orange flesh is sour and sticky. The brown seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
