Aquamarine

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 42 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several sturdy, wavy stems covered in wrinkled, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is white.

The branches are very long and thick that and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, finger-like, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are generally dark brown, strong and smooth.

It produces thick bunches of large, green flowers with 3 pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a fairly strong scent that smells like varnish. In late winter it forms largeaquamarine berries.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It can flourish even in standing water.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
