Copperfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 71 feet (21.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 77 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, angular trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, silver and white bark, and inside, the very light wood is white with black speckles.

The excessive amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of large, thick leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either olive, or copper with magenta patches.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of tiny, bronze blossoms with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like honeysuckle.

In mid-summer it produces , wide fruit. The clammy olive skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is salty, and the crunchy copper flesh is sweet and very juicy. The blood red seeds are large and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
Ivy often grows along the trunk.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
