Silverfern

This silver moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps On rotten logs, In heathlands, and In marshes.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches, and is overwhelmingly resistant; it can easily endure being trodden on.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release millions of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
