Golden Trumpet Flower

This enormous flower grows up to 14.0 feet (4.3 meters) tall. Its grey or green stem is very thick, and the miniature, yellow-green leaves are dark green on the underside and are very narrow and elongated with ripped edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Each stem splits 2 to 5 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 75 cm (29.5 inches) wide, with alternating petals of gold and cyan, with a sky blue central disk. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of handfuls of tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a faint scent that smells like faeces, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.
