Pink-Red Spine Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. It splits at the base to form 4 finger-like stems. Each stem is pink-red, and is covered in brittle green spines. The spherical body is brown, and is dotted with small orange spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 16 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are crimson at the sides and magenta at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cube. It has a weak scent that smells like mint.

The cactus's skin is delicate, the black flesh is soft, and the crimson sap is thin and can kill if consumed.

It comes in 20 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
