Yellowwind Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 63 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in very thick, waxy, yellow bark, and inside, the dense wood is yellow.

The abundance of branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with copious amounts of small, slender, pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid olive with light grey lines.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of large, florescent red blossoms with broad, flat petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a powerful scent that smells like candle wax.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, wide fruit. The soft blue skin is tough and sweet and bitter, and the very soft red flesh is salty and sour and powdery. The washed-out yellow seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
