Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 83 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in rough, light gray bark, and inside, the hard wood is white.

The numerous branches trail down to the ground and are covered with handfuls of small, spear shaped leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are yellow with lime tips.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of large, pink blossoms with long, narrow petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like old books.

In early autumn it produces small, circular fruit. The rubbery subtle blue skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is sweet and savoury, and the slightly crunchy white flesh is sour and oily. The grey seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
