Slate Petal

This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its orange stems grow in bunches of 4 and are thin and straight, and the tiny, brown leaves are long, tapering with irregular edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.

6 to 8 small flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of slate. The flower head is made up of 8 petals in raised layers. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like mango, and it has copious amounts of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.
