Magenta Fruit Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 36 feet (11.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 62 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, twisting trunk covered in cracked, brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is copper-coloured.

The abundance of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of giant, thin leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are hazel with drab blue tips.

In early spring, it produces lots of giant, red blossoms with long, tapering petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like new carpet.

In early summer it produces large, spherical fruit. The hairy violet skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is bitter, and the soft magenta flesh is sweet and sticky. The olive seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
