Yellowfern

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 191 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of thick, straight stems covered in delicate, knobbly, yellow bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches trail down across the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of huge, thick, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are slate with hazel tips, strong and soft.

It produces lots of small, dark brown flowers with heart-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a powerful scent that smells like lavender. In late autumn it forms medium-sizedbrown, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
