Silver Sickleflower

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its silver stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 4 and are wispy and straight, and split into many branching stems at the top, and the huge, orange-yellow leaves are sickle shaped with irregular edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Dozens of tiny flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with bronze petals and a grey central disk. The flower head is shaped like a heart with 18 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They are hardy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like onion, and it has copious amounts of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by a small species of bird.
