Amber Spike

This short cactus grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. It splits at the base to form 5 wispy stems. Each stem is orange and dark brown, and is dotted with small lime spines. The spherical body is green, and is covered in dozens of rigid amber spines.

It is fast growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with solid pink petals decorated with blood red dots and a aquamarine central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a sphere with 54 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has an intense scent that smells like ashes.

The cactus's skin is thick, the deep purple flesh is rough, and the orange sap is thin.
