Indigo Spike

This small cactus grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The slender, pointed stem is yellow, and is covered in thousands of rigid indigo spines.

It is fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with each petal a slightly different shade of brown grow at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 7 petals in raised layers. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like lavender.

The cactus's skin is thin, the aquamarine flesh is waxy, and the purple sap is thin and causes upset stomachs if consumed.
