Copperfruit

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This large fruit tree grows up to 29 feet (8.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 56 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a thick, curved trunk covered in hard, knobbly, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is white with black speckles.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of large, perforated leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are copper on the edges and slate at the center.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of small, brown blossoms with broad, flat petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like leather.

In early summer it produces , spherical fruit. The hairy blue skin is tough and savoury, and the crunchy turquoise flesh is sweet and sticky. The bronze seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
